About Us

The Foundation for the Defense of Democracy in Central Asia (FDDCA) is an independent organization dedicated to strengthening democracy and protecting human rights in the countries of Central Asia. Our mission is to promote and uphold democratic values, civil liberties, and legal equality for all residents of the region, regardless of their background, nationality, or religion.

Our Goals

The FDDCA was established to contribute to the sustainable development of democracy in Central Asia. We believe that a just and open society is possible when people have the right to a voice, access to justice, and the freedom to express their views without fear of persecution. The following areas are at the core of our work:

1. Promoting Democracy and Transparent Electoral Processes

We support initiatives aimed at strengthening democratic institutions in society, including organizing independent observation missions to monitor electoral processes, ensuring they meet international standards of fairness and transparency.

2. Protecting Citizens’ Rights and Freedoms

One of our key priorities is the protection of fundamental rights, such as freedom of speech, assembly, and the right to participate in fair elections. We aim to create an environment where people can freely express their opinions and stand up for their rights.

3. Fighting Corruption

Corruption is one of the most serious threats to democracy and societal development. We support independent investigative journalism and work to expose corruption schemes, ensuring people are informed about abuses of power.

4. Advancing Women’s Rights and Political Participation

Protecting women’s rights and fostering their social and political engagement is a vital part of our mission. We develop programs that promote women’s participation in public and political life and protect them from discrimination.

5. Supporting Independent Media and Bloggers

We believe in the power of free speech and support independent bloggers and journalists who address societal issues, contribute to public discourse, and foster the growth of civil society.

6. Education and Raising Civic Awareness

The FDDCA actively organizes educational programs to improve political literacy and critical thinking among citizens, particularly youth. We conduct workshops and training sessions that develop democratic skills and awareness of human rights.

7. Defending Vulnerable Groups and Minorities

We work to ensure equal protection under the law for all citizens, with special attention to the rights of ethnic and national minorities, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups.

8. International Cooperation and Partnerships

We collaborate with international organizations and foundations to exchange experiences and amplify the impact of our initiatives. Joint projects and knowledge-sharing enable us to develop more effective strategies for promoting democracy in Central Asia.

Why It Matters

Central Asia is a region where democracy and human rights face numerous challenges. Repression, censorship, restricted political participation, and a lack of government transparency create an atmosphere in which citizens cannot fully exercise their rights and freedoms. We believe that every person deserves a life of dignity, protection from injustice, and the opportunity to actively participate in their country’s affairs.

The FDDCA is committed to building a society where everyone’s rights are respected and democratic principles are upheld. We invite all those who share our values to join us in creating a fair and free future for Central Asia.
